Biography


Syarifah Nur Aqida completed her doctorate in the area of laser surface processing at Dublin City University, Ireland in 2011. She is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA). Her research interests lie in areas of laser surface modification of various materials including steels, bulk metallic glass, and coatings, wear, thermal stability of materials, and simulations of manufacturing processes. She has examined and supervised to completion a number of Ph.D and MSc. thesis since 2012 and actively published more than 60 peer-reviewed journal, conference papers and book chapters in various research field including metal matrix composites, smart materials, phase analysis. She received various research grants from local and international bodies. Previously, she was the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Automotive and Mechanical Engineering and the manager of Automotive Cluster Industry Centre of Excellence, a government-funded university-industry linkage program. She successfully coordinates a five-year term nationwide training as well as research worth more than RM4 mil that promotes graduate employability in the engineering sector. She is also part of the faculty management as Deputy Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies. Due to her achievements, she received awards from UMPSA . Other than that, she is an active research fellow of Automotive Engineering Centre.
