Biography

I'm a lecturer with nearly 20 years' experience in Chemical and Process Engineering Technology at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al Sultan Abdullah. My academic foundation includes a Chemical Engineering (Biochemical) degree from UKM, a Master of Science (2007), and a PhD from Newcastle University, UK (2013).

My passion lies in fostering effective and engaging learning environments. I apply gamification and unconventional teaching methods, believing every student deserves a tailored approach to master complex concepts.

My research focuses on sustainable solutions, from waste-to-wealth conversion to fermentation technology. I'm innovating the Oscillatory Baffled Bioreactor for various uses, including future wastewater treatment. I've successfully isolated local microbes for cellulosic material degradation and am optimizing biovinegar production from pineapple waste with Pekan Pina Sdn. Bhd. My current work also involves developing novel wastewater treatment adsorbents using a rice husk biochar and cyclodextrin composite. Most recently, my research has pivoted to developing microbial consortiums capable of degrading persistent pollutants like antibiotics, aiming to revolutionize municipal wastewater treatment.
