Biography


Dr. Ngien Su Kong is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Pahang. He has previously helmed the Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering as Head of Department as well as the BEng. (Hons.) Civil Engineering degree at the Faculty of Civil Engineering & Earth Resources as Head of Programme, both at Universiti Malaysia Pahang. His fields of expertise are Geoenvironment, Water Engineering, Sewerage Systems and Aquaponics System. As a researcher, Dr. Ngien has been conducting research on certain aspects of groundwater pollution, specifically on how immiscible contaminants travel through the subsurface in soils containing double-porosity. He has proven through his research that organic contaminants travel preferentially through soils with secondary porosity features such as fissures and rootholes. Based on his expertise, Dr. Ngien was roped into the Scientific Committee for the 37th IAHR World Congress, which is one of the largest congress series in the world, to help uphold the quality of the papers presented in the congress. Dr. Ngien is also involved with the industry where he had worked with IWK to study the adequacy of the peak flow coefficient currently being used in sewer pipes design. In addition to that, he is part of the team that handled the IRBM project of Sungai Kuantan. Dr. Ngien has authored and co-authored more than 20 journal articles in the field of water engineering and geoenvironmental sciences as well as having more than 20 conference papers to his name.
