Biography
Dr. Nurul Akmarina Mohd Abdul Kamal is a pharmaceutical chemist specializing in nanomedicine and advanced drug-delivery systems. Her research focuses on engineering nanoparticles such as metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and other nanoparticles for targeted, pH-responsive, and ligand-functionalized therapeutic delivery, particularly in oncology. She integrates formulation development, physicochemical characterization, and preclinical evaluation to produce reproducible and translational nanoformulations. Dr. Akmarina has secured both internal and national grants, driving innovations in drug delivery and MOF-based nanocarriers. As a senior lecturer and active member of the PharmTech Cluster, she supervises postgraduate researchers, fosters multidisciplinary collaborations, and contributes to scientific writing and communication. She also advances STEM-oriented learning, reflecting her commitment to impactful research translation and the development of future pharmaceutical innovators.
