Biography


Mohd. Shafie Bakar was born in Muar, Johor in 1972. Married with Dr. Mariam Nawawi with six children. He received the Diploma in Electronics Engineering in 1993 from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur. He endures his study and obtains Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics from Oxford Brookes University (OBU), UK in 1996. He obtained Master in Electrical Engineering from UTM, Johor and later, he joined Universiti Malaysia Pahang (formerly known as KUKTEM) as a tutor and being promoted to lecturer in 2003. He attained his PhD with Sustainable Energy & Power Electronics Research (SuPER) group at Faculty of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (FKEE), Universiti Malaysia Pahang in 2017 and promoted to a Senior Lecturer.
 
  • From 2004 until 2006, he leads FKEE as a Dean and succeeded comply a five years accreditation from Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC). He was awarded with Faculty Excellent Service (20017) and University Excellent Service (2005, and 2016). In 2015, UMP awarded Hadiah Sanjungan Anugerah Inovasi (Pengajaran Berpusatkan Pelajar - SCL), Anugerah Akademik Universiti (AAU) for his effort implementing SCL in Teaching & Learning. 
  • He also a team members involved in developing thesis template for Institute Postgraduate Studies (IPS) UMP using MZJ formatting method. At the same time he activley conducting Mendeley course for postgraduate and undergraduate students. 
  • His research interests include switching strategy for power converter (mainly in Z-source inverter and multiphases), energy management systems (in electric vehicle), renewable energy systems (simulation with solar system) and engineering education particularly in active learning environment.
