Biography
Associate Professor Ts. Ir. Dr. Wan Sharuzi Wan Harun is an internationally recognised academician, researcher, and engineering leader. He serves as a Principal Fellow at the Automotive Engineering Centre, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), where he has been a key figure since 2006. Specialising in additive manufacturing, green energy, and sustainable engineering, his work significantly impacts green mobility and mechanical industries.
Dr. Sharuzi holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Kyushu University, Japan, and is a Professional Engineer (Ir.), Chartered Engineer (UK), ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer, and Professional Technologist (Ts.). He authored Malaysia's first engineering registration guidebooks, widely used by engineers pursuing professional registration.
With over 97 Scopus and 72 Web of Science-indexed publications and more than RM3.5 million in research grants, his contributions extend to lightweight composite materials, FDM 3D printing, and eco-efficient manufacturing systems. His work has earned him recognition in the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University for three consecutive years (2022-2024).
Dr. Sharuzi has led consultancy projects worth over RM220,000 with top organisations like Tan Chong Motor, PETRONAS, and TNB. In education, he has taught 77 courses and supervised over 80 students, fostering future leaders in sustainable engineering. He also serves as a trusted editorial leader and academic assessor.
As a Principal Fellow, Dr. Sharuzi exemplifies excellence in academic leadership, industry collaboration, and innovation, driving progress toward a smarter, cleaner future.
