Biography
Gs. Dr. Syarifuddin Misbari has a background in remote sensing, geographical information system (GIS), Earth science and biology (Form 6). He graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Skudai) with a Bachelor Degree of Science (Remote Sensing) and Doctor of Philosophy (Remote Sensing) in 2013 and 2017, respectively. With two years of industrial experience and one year as Post-Doctoral research fellow, he is best known for his work in these areas:
i. space science, satellite/digital image processing;
ii. seagrass biomass quantification using satellites (without destructive method)
iii. GIS in various fields (plantation, etc)
iv. coastal studies, landslides
v. biodiversity, hydrology
In April 2017, at the age of 28, he was recognized as the Recipient of Chancellor Award, the highest-ranked academic award in UTM by Her Royal Highness Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah as the Chancellor of UTM (link: https://www.bharian.com.my/taxonomy/term/2646/2017/04/277260/graduan-perlu-berdaya-saing-permaisuri-johor). He is also the recipient of Student Excellent Award in Asia Pacific Asia Petroleum Geoscience Conference & Exhibition 2015.
