Biography


Joo Hui Tay is a senior lecturer in Environmental Chemistry. She received her BSc in Analytical and Environmental Chemistry (2006) and MSc in Environmental Chemistry and Pollution (2010) from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. She earned her Ph.D. from Stockholm University in 2018, specializing in the pathways of human exposure to halogenated flame retardants in indoor environments. Since joining the Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FIST) at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) in 2010, she has been dedicated to diverse environmental research. Her work encompasses monitoring trace organic pollutants in the environment, focusing on understanding their sources, fate, and utilizing advanced monitoring techniques. Additionally, Joo Hui investigates trends in human exposure to trace contaminants, contributing valuable insights into the dynamic relationship between the environment and human health. She has also made significant contributions to sewage epidemiology, utilizing wastewater analysis to gain real-time information about substance consumption patterns within communities. This innovative approach provides a unique perspective on public health and substance usage trends.
