Biography
Norhayati Abdullah was born and schooled at Kuala Terengganu. She graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia in Bachelor of Industry Technology (Polymer) (Honors) in 2002. In 2003 she pursues study in Diploma of Education and pursues her scientific interests further with graduating in Master of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) in 2007 under supervision of Prof. Dato’ Dr Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz. Then she pursues her PhD under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Peter Cormack and Prof. Dr. David C. Sherrington from Strathclyde University, UK and graduated in 2013. Her PhD work sponsored by UMP, focused upon the design and synthesis of monodisperse ion exchange resins.
In 2013, Norhayati returned to the Faculty of Chemical and Natural Resources Engineering, UMP to take up a position as Senior Lecturer. Since then, she has led many internal grants and national grant related with hypercrosslinked polymer projects for water treatment, separation and catalyst applications and chelating agent project. She won 5 Gold and 4 silver awards, 2 special awards at national and university level and 1 Silver award at international level. Currently, she was filing 2 patents related with hypercrosslinked strong cation exchange resin projects. While doing research, she is also in charge in the consultation works with oil and gas company at Malaysia. In teaching, she teaches a course of Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Mass and Heat Transfer Lab and Material Energy Balance at diploma and degree level. In addition, she also teaches Chemical Product Design and Management at Master level.
