Biography


Dr. Youventharan Duraisamy has a PhD in Civil Engineering from The University of Sydney, Australia. His research interest is in peat soil stabilization, biocementation and energy geotechnics. He has received numerous awards locally and abroad for his research work.  In 2014 he received Annie B. Wilson 1st Prize Award for his research work in biocementation. He also received a 1st runner up award from the Deep Foundation Institute of USA for his research paper “Performance of Bio-cemented Sydney Sand Using Ex-situ Mixing Technique”. In 2017, he received Cendikia Bitara Award for his invention known as Peat Sampler with Built-in Extruder which was granted patent in Malaysia. Dr. Youven has written more than 5 books and 30 technical papers related with his research and topic of interest. Currently he has involved in a research to design an energy efficient foundations which is ecofriendly and sustainable. He is a registered graduate engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and the Engineers Australia (EA).
