Biography


Zarina Mohd Ali is a senior lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) who has more than 25 years of experience as an educator and language practitioner at tertiary level. She is also a qualified and trained translator, editor and proofreader. She graduated with an honours bachelor's degree in Arts from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1996 with Translating and Interpreting (English-Malay and Malay-English) as her major subject and Islamic Studies, Arts and Civilisation as minor. Zarina holds a master's degree in English as a Second Language (MESL) specialising in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She has expertise in language teaching and learning, translation, editing and proofreading while her research interests include mixed research methods and methodologies, needs analysis, course design and curriculum development, testing and measurement, questionnaire validation, service quality, and internationalisation in higher education. She had taught at two public universities, namely, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Health Campus in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan as well as one private college before serving her current employer, UMPSA--formerly known as Kolej Universiti Kejuruteraan & Teknologi Malaysia (KUKTEM)--since July 2005.
